Michael Chester Baldwin, 70, a lifetime resident of Westport and former commercial fishing boat Captain, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Michael was born on December 2, 1942 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Grant and Josephine (Munch) Baldwin. He was raised in Westport and graduated Salutatorian from Ocosta High School in 1961. He attended college for a few years. He was a self-employed commercial fisherman and owned and operated the ‘Nellie M’ for 35 years. Michael had a heart for helping people and was a volunteer fireman for the Westport Fire Department for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Salmon Trollers Association. Michael is survived by a son, Grant Baldwin of Westport; Step-Children: Randi Jensen and Ray Jensen; four grandchildren: Naveah, Hannah, Hollys and Isaiah Baldwin; half-brother, Dick Gaunt of Sacramento, CA and two sisters; and ex-wife Ginger Baldwin. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 2 PM, in the Westport VFW Hall.
