Ronnie Simpkins

Longtime Harbor resident, Ronnie Lee Simpkins, Sr., died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was 68. Ronnie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, December 12, 1947, the son of Carrie Lincoln and Hazel (Anderson) Simpkins. He came with his family to Elma while he was still in grade school and would complete his schooling in Elma. Ronnie worked as a handyman, doing many jobs as a carpenter, landscaping, and as a mechanic. He loved doing furniture restorations and just working with anything mechanical. He married Georgia Bagnell in 1972 in Aberdeen. They would divorce in 2007. He is survived by 2 sons: Ronnie Lee, Jr. and Randy Arthur, both of Elma; 2 daughters: Monica Aasen, Beaverton, OR and Melinda and husband James Fisk, Shelton; a brother: Dan Simpkins in Arizona and a step-brother: Jeff Olmstead; 2 sisters: Gloria Rogers, Olympia and Marjorie Olmstead, Rochester, WA; and also 8 grandchildren. A sister, Evelyn Austin died before him in 1999. A memorial service will be held early this coming summer.
