William Weaver
William E. “Bill” Weaver, 90, a resident of the Harbor for 59 years, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Bill was born in Freewater, Oregon, March 31, 1922, the son of Clarence William and Myra H. (Potter) Weaver. He attended schools in Freewater and had served in the Army during World War Two in France and Germany where he received a purple. He had worked in the woods and came to National, WA, near Rainier National Park, in 1953 where he had also operated a gas station and restaurant. The following year he came to the Aberdeen worked for Evans Products and Aberdeen Plywood where he was a foreman. In 1975 he went to work for Ocean Spray as a mechanic and foreman and then J.C. Penney Store at South Shore Mall until he retired in 1990. Bill was married to Beadie Jane May in Montesano on September 6, 1969. She survives at the family home in Aberdeen. He had been a member of the Aberdeen Masonic Lodge and enjoyed camping and fishing on the Hoh River. He also worked in stained glass, built things including a gazebo for his step-daughter’s wedding, and enjoyed oil painting, among many other artistic endeavors. He put in a vegetable garden every year and taught himself to graft different varieties of apples on one tree. He was self-taught in everything he did and was always there for family and friends to build, fix or invent as needed. He and Beadie especially enjoyed travelling in their Winnebago throughout the United States. He will be remembered as a man who never knew a stranger and had a ready smile for all. Besides his wife, Beadie, Bill is survived by two daughters: Lanette and husband Raymond DeBacker and Rebecca and husband Tim Triesch, all of Aberdeen; a step-daughter: Diane and husband Greg Layng, Aberdeen; a step-son: David and wife Sandra Heiny, Aberdeen; and also seven grandchildren, step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A daughter, Sharon Williams died in 2012; a step-son, Paul Heiny died in 1999; and a sister: Verna Jean Klickman died in 1963. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 1st in Fern Hill Cemetery. Pastor Kent Gravley of Immanuel Baptist Church, Hoquiam, will officiate.
