Barbara Jean Gumtow Obituary

Long-time Aberdeen resident Barbara Jean Gumtow passed away at Capital Medical Center in Olympia on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017. She was 75. Barbara was born to Leo White and Florida Bessie (Bakotich) on July 14th, 1942 in Aberdeen grew up in Hoquiam. She also lived in Elma. Barbara was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Oakhurst Nursing Home and retired in 2004. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Mahjong. On June 24th, 1972 Barbara married Walter Gumtow in Aberdeen.

Barbara is survived by her son Scott Churchel of Elma; brother Leo John White of Hoquiam; sisters Sharon Lowery and Kathy James of Aberdeen; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Gumtow in January of 2016, her parents Leo and Florida, and her sister Christine Brooks of Hoqiuam.
