<p>Jason Douglass Martin of Aberdeen passed away at home on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Jason was born January 25, 1991 in Aberdeen, WA to Steven and Rhonda (Cugal) Martin.</p><p>Jay attended grade school in Clearwater, WA and moved to Aberdeen in 2001 and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 2009. Jay loved being a firefighter, he worked as a wildland firefighter for the WA State Dept. of Natural Resources and for the Ocean Shores Fire Dept.; he had also worked for United Parcel Service and the Washington Conservation Corp. Jay loved the outdoors, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and hiking were among his favorites. He was also a volunteer for Search and Rescue and loved to design and draw.</p><p>Jay will be forever missed by his loving family, mother Rhonda and step-father Herb Schwerdel of Aberdeen; father Steven Martin of Clearwater, WA; sisters, Lauren Martin; Olivia Schwerdel and brother Nathaniel Schwerdel all of Aberdeen; grandparents, Clifton and Teresa Cugal and grandmother, Mildred Daniels; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.</p><p>Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary, 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 30th at St. Mary Catholic Church followed by a 2:30 p.m. graveside committal at Quinault Cemetery. </p><p>A memorial fund with the Ocean Shores Firefighters Association has been set up in memory of Jason Martin to help offset firefighter uniform and testing expenses. </p><p><br></p>
