Starla Jean Stubblefield, 46, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, in Seattle. She was born Oct. 7, 1958, to Robert Perrigo and Ladoris Ray Perrigo in Lewiston. She attended school in Lewiston. She married Douglas Earl Cann in 1976 at Lewiston and they divorced in 1978. She married Steven Stubblefield Sept. 15, 1979, at Lewiston. They lived in Lewiston until 1981, when she and Steve moved to Moscow, where they lived until 1983 when they moved to Clarkston. She worked as a maid at several different motels in Clarkston and Lewiston and worked as a custodian for the Clarkston School District in 1988 and 1989. She was employed at Dee Osborne Cleaning of Clarkston until 1992 and the Sacajawea Motor Inn in Lewiston until 1995. She then took care of Ralph Huckabay at her home as a caregiver from 1995 until his death in 2000. She worked for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston as a custodian from 2001 until she became ill with COPD in 2003. Starla loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and was an avid fisherman. She loved restoring old cars with her husband, Steve, and going to all the local Show and Shines with the old cars they'd put together. Her last Show and Shine was this year's Dogwood Festival where she drove her and Steve's black Buick. Christmas was Starla's favorite holiday, she went all out for it -- she loved Christmas. She took up crocheting when she got too sick to do anything else and became very good at it. Starla has belonged to the Valley Christian Center in Lewiston since 1993. Starla had her first serious attack from COPD and emphysema in May of 2003. She had been sick from it ever since. She was referred to University of Washington Medical Center for a lung transplant later that year and was put on the recipient list in February 2005. She was called for her transplant on April 29, 2005. She died from complications 43 days after the transplant was done. Starla was a very loving person who touched a lot of lives with her love and kindness. Her love will live forever in us and she will not be forgotten. Starla is survived by her husband at the family home; daughter Rikkii Lewis of Spokane; son Douglas Stubblefield of Spokane; son Timithy Cann of Clarkston; father-in-law Sylvester Stubblefield of Clarkston; brother Rick Perrigo of Anatone; brother Mike Perrigo of Castle Rock, Wash.; sister Julie Haddon of Anatone; brother Peter Perrigo of Portland, Ore.; sister Cheryl Stubblefield of Clarkston; brother Mark Perrigo of Clarkston; sister Marla Van Allen of Clarkston; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ladoris Perrigo; a grandson, Mathew Steven Frazier, and her mother-in-law, Peggy Ann Stubblefield. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Christian Center, 3215 Echo Hills Drive, Lewiston.
