Robert Box

Robert L. "Bob" Box Wenatchee, WA Robert L. "Bob" "Papo" Box, 88, a resident of the Wenatchee Valley since 1946, died Monday, January 9, 2012, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born August 7, 1923, to Inman and Margie (Fry) Box at Violet Hill, AR, where he was raised and attended school. On October 27, 1943, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Texas. He was honorably discharged on August 10, 1945. On June 24, 1943, he married Armilda "Billie" Fleming at Wheling, AR and made their first home in Illinois. They then moved to Granville, IL, where he worked in the oil fields. In March 1946, they moved to the Wenatchee Valley, where he had since lived. He spent 15 years working for the Wenatchee Parks Department. He then worked for the Chelan County Courthouse for eight years and retired. He was a member of the Church of Christ; D.A.V. and the American Legion Post 10, Wenatchee. Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law, Jann and Steve Groves and Margie and Bill Rush, all of East Wenatchee; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; with one great-grandchild expected in July. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, "Billie" in 1978; and his parents. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, with Chaplain Scott Langager officiating. Interment will follow at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 16, 2012, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
