Maud Vickery East Wenatchee, Washington Obituary

Maud Vickery

Maud Vickery, 91, a Wenatchee area resident, passed away Monday night, December 10, 2012 at Central Washington Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born on August 18, 1921 at Spring Mill, near Batesville, Arkansas to the late Hiram and Laura (Moser) Meeker. She had both of her parents precede her in death by the age of ten. Maud received her education in Arkansas, and met her husband Walter Vickery. In 1946, their family settled in East Wenatchee at the Ox Team Orchard. One of Maud’s proudest working accomplishments was as one of Van Well Nursery’s first employees, until the time she retired more than 30 years later. She loved all of the beautiful things in life, especially her family members, and grandbabies. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and nurturer to many other children and often said, “there’s always room for one more.” Maud had many talents and hobbies that included gardening and crafting. She is survived by her four children, Betty Purdom, Sherrion Pennington, and Ron and Iris Vickery all of Wenatchee; Karen & Gary Taffar, 0f East Wenatchee; and 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Vickery, one son, Donald Thompson, one sister Floy Phillips and one infant grandson, Todd Thompson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff members of Blossom Valley Assisted Living and Central Washington Hospital for their genuine care. A Service of Commemoration will be held on Sunday, December 16th at 1 pm at Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Wenatchee. You are invited to visit her online tribute and leave a memory at www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
