Norman Murland Foster Obituary
Norman M. (Park) Foster passed away on April 5, 2019. The eldest son of Betty Spear Foster and Elwin Foster, Norm was born on July 1, 1937, in Burlington, Vermont.
After graduating from Winooski High School in Burlington, where he excelled in track events, Norm enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years. Following training in San Diego, he was stationed at the naval station at Subic Bay in the Philippines and the Whidbey Island Naval Station. He briefly lived in Vermont after his service and then returned to the Pacific Northwest. He enjoyed working with insurance and became licensed in life, health, property and casualty insurance. Licensing and work in successful securities sales followed his insurance career, and he was appointed division manager of Waddell and Reed in Bellevue.
In 1988, he purchased an insurance agency in Ephrata, and added two additional offices to the Foster Dahl Miller & Associates companies during the 1990s, one in Republic and the other in Mattawa. He sold the three offices and incorporated Deleron, Inc., a company designed to develop new products.
Norm loved living in the Columbia Basin area and looked forward to his annual deer hunting and horseback riding trip in the mountains of the Okanogan area. He also enjoyed singing karaoke, particularly hymns. For more than a decade and a half prior to his death, he was affected by a gradually debilitating illness. He lived at The Cambridge in Quincy when he died.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle Robert Spear; two brothers, Elwin and Kenneth Foster; and a daughter, Noralee Hart. He is survived by two brothers, Steven (Linda) and Robert; two sons, Bruce and Griffin Rain (Nancy); one daughter, Suzette Burnworth (Manny); granddaughter Jacque Zimmerman; grandson Scott Foster; and four great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Burial was held at the Quincy Valley Cemetery. If desired, it is suggested donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
