Dorothea Zimmerman Obituary

Dorothea Zimmermann, died on February 11, 2005 at the age of 82. A native of Breslau, Germany (now a part of Poland), she moved to the U.S. in 1954. During WWII she was separated from her family in Germany and was reunited thanks to a postcard from her mother, telling her to join them in Bavaria. She was the beloved wife of the now deceased Jean E. Zimmermann, an Army officer who later became an American Diplomat. She traveled through the world extensively, settling in WA State in 1973. She was an advocate of environmental and animal welfare causes. She will be missed by her three children, Jacqueline L. Mann, Charles Eugene Zimmermann and Elisabeth Nora Springer, a son-in-law, Winston Eugene Mann, and four grandchildren, Jennifer Springer, daughter of Elisabeth Springer, and Winston, Yvette and Monique Mann, children of Jacqueline and Winston Mann. A Memorial gathering will be held in her home, TODAY, February 16, 2005 at 3pm followed by a get-together at the French Hen Restaurant on the corner of Bridgeport & Steilacoom at 4pm. The family respectfully requests that instead of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences at www.tacomamausoleum.com.
