Ruth Ellen Burnside, 77, of Ivydale, WV passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Clay Health Care Center following a long illness. She was born March 27, 1942 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Denver and Icie Hardway Criner. She is survived by her sons Phillip Burnside of Duck, WV and Richard Burnside of Ivydale, WV; step-son, Jerod Burnside of Florida; five grandchildren, Brooklyn Cottrell, Ashley May, Johnny Blevins, Little Phillip Burnside, and Peyton Mae Burnside; one great-grandson, Zaden Cadle; sisters Wanetta Marks of Duck, WV and Marie Marks of Fairmont, WV; brother, Denver Leon Criner of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Amos Burnside; daugthers, Debra Ann and Kathlene Blevins; sister, Cora Criner, and brother, James Criner. A funeral service will be conducted by Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg and will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor James Williamson at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Ivydale, WV. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
