James Yeager Obituary

James Orin Yeager, 77, of Jarvisville Community passed away on Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017 in United Hospital Center. He was born on November 30, 1939 in Salem, a son of the late Jesse Wade Yeager and Hazel Greynolds Yeager. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth “Betsy” Queen Yeager. He is also survived by three daughters Brenda Richter and her husband Rob of Salem, Rachel Starkey and her husband Travis of Fairmont and Jamie “Kristi” Yeager of Jarvisville; two grandchildren, Brandon Robert Richter and Nickalas James Richter; one brother, Harlin Blaine Yeager and two sisters, Shelba Jean Zirkle and her husband Rodger, and Linda Marlene Cheuvront; three sisters-in-law Sue Wallace and her husband Dick, Linda Davis and her husband Bob and Juanita Osborne; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Bolte Yeager who passed away in 1982; one brother, Charles Yeager and one grandson, Declan John Richter; one brother-in-law Charlie Cheuvront and one sister-in-law Dorothy Yeager. As a young man Jimmy enjoyed working on cars with his brothers. He later worked in a glass factory, tire shop, Ford garage, a truck driver and a coal miner. He was a true “Jack of all trades” and loved to reminisce about his days as a coal miner. He also enjoyed farming and helping his neighbors. He loved NASCAR and rooted for many drivers throughout the years until they switched from Ford to Toyota. He also rooted for and attended many races to watch his all-time favorite driver, Richard Petty. His garage was also a local hangout for his many friends and relatives. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice especially Chastity, Amy, Keith, Becca and the many other wonderful, caring workers who cared for Jimmy. A special thanks to the nurses and caregivers on 6 south at United Hospital Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 1010 South Chestnut Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301 Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2-8 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend John Freeman presiding. Interment will be in Big Isaac Cemetery.
