William Oldaker

William M. “Bill” Oldaker, 74, of Rt. 2, Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1935 in Clarksburg, a son of the late John W. and Myrtle Layton Oldaker. He is survived by Ruby Oldaker, a son, Scott Oldaker and his wife Amanda of Clarksburg; a daughter, Amy Sponaugle and her husband David of West Union; four grandchildren, Brandon, Jennifer and Kayla Oldaker of Clarksburg and Kenzie Sponaugle of West Union. Also surviving are three brothers, Joseph Oldaker and his wife Nancy of Sardis; Gary Oldaker and his wife Phyllis of Wilsonburg; John Oldaker and his wife Kathy of Clarksburg; a sister, Linda Fulton of Shinnston; one sister-in-law, Janice Oldaker of Jane Lew and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Oldaker and Kenneth Oldaker; two sisters Patricia Ann Oldaker and Carole Sue Pritchard. Bill served for two years in the United States Army. He retired as a sheet metal journeyman from Local 33 after 25 years of service. He attended the Connecting Point Church in Broadway and the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Churches. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport on Thursday from 2-8 pm, where services will be held on Friday October 2, 2009 at 11:00 am with Reverend Dan Cope presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park where Military Funeral Rites will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and WV Military Honor Guard from Camp Dawson, Kingwood.
