Opal Ford

Opal Virginia (Stevens) Ford, age 97, of Stevens Road, Grafton, WV passed away Friday, June 30,2017 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Opal was born July 25, 1919 a daughter of the late John I. Stevens and Etta (Grimm) Stevens . She is survived by one grandson, Stephen M. Ford of Morgantown, WV (Formerly of Grafton); three granddaughters, Heather J. Ford of Grafton, Amanda M. Hoff of Thornton, WV, and Jessica R. Shumake also of Grafton; six great grandchildren, Ashley and Alyscenne Ford, Jasmine, Eli,and Luke Hoff, and Tessa Shumake; one sister, Betty Holmes of Morgantown; daughter- in- law, Patricia J. Ford of Thornton, WV; also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Francis Ford; one son, Howard Glenn Ford; one sister, Violet Watkins; three brothers, David I. Stevens, Arthur J. Stevens and Charles Stevens. Opal was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, her church, quilting, and played the guitar. She was the oldest member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 4:00-8:00p.m. Opal will lie in state at the Oak Grove Church Monday, July 3, 2017 from 10:00a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Craig A Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
