Ronald L. Cole, age 77 of Grand Street, Grafton, WV passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born January 17, 1940 in Grafton, WV son of the late Thomas K. “TK” Cole and Frances Willa (Shackelford) Cole. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Helen L. (Shelton) Cole; three sons, Ronald Keith Cole (Jodi) of Greencastle, PA, Terry Lynn Cole (Jennifer) of Bridgeport, WV, and William Denny Duffy (Mylene) of Austin, TX; also one sister, Joyce Ann Kirkpatrick. Ron is also survived by seven grandchildren Lauren Reed Cole, Zachary Kenneth Cole, Sam Duffy, Aly Duffy, Mya Duffy, Jordan Elizabeth Cole, and Cameron Michael Cole: also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son John Michael Cole: one brother-in-law: Charles N. “Chuck” Kirkpatrick. Ronald graduated from Grafton High School with the class of 1957. Ronald served in the U. S. Army from 1963-1965. He retired as Supervisor for WV State Tax Dept. with 36 years of service. He was a Trustee and manager of the First Baptist Church of Grafton. Also a 50 year member of the Grafton Lodge #5, AF:AM, Knights Templar, Scottish Right Bodies of Wheeling, Osiris Temple of Wheeling, Taylor County Shrine Club, Naomi Chapter #12 OES, Gideons International, Past chairman Board of Grafton City Hospital, EDA Board, Hall of Fame Grafton High School Boosters Club, He was treasurer of Little League, and active in Grafton Pop Warner Football. The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Ronald will lie in state Tuesday, February 28, from 9:30-10:30 at the First Baptist Church in Grafton with Pastor Orville Wright Officiating. Interment will follow at WV National Cemetery at Pruntytown with Military Graveside service and Grafton Lodge 15AFE Masonic Graveside service.
