Clarice Marie Whytsell, 88, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Minnie Hamilton Long Term Care. She was a Christian and a member of the Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church. She was born December 23, 1928 in Grantsville, WV, a son of H.C. Davis and Dessie Cox Davis. She graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1947. She is survived by her three sons Keith (Janet) Poling, of Grantsville, WV; Douglas (Nina) Whytsell, of Matinsburg, WV; and Kenneth Whytsell of Grantsville, WV; grandchildren, Marvin (Angel) Poling, Charleston, WV; Jason (Lauren) Poling, Grantsville, WV; and Beth Whytsell of Martinsburg; great grandchildren Alexia Nicole Poling, Kaleigh and Mallie Poling; sister Shirley Saunders of Bluefield WV; sister-in-law Janet Davis of Grantsville and several nieces and nephews. She retired from the Calhoun County BOE at the age of 72. She also worked at J & B Drug Store for 18 years and for Dalton’s Department store for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Duane C. Davis and Robert “Tank” Davis; an infant sister Cathleen; sister Imogene Corne; sister-in-law Lillian Morris Davis (who she thought of as a sister); brothers-in-law Charles Corne and Frank Saunders. Funeral services will be held at the Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating.
