Dorothy Sullivan

Dorothy Eileen Sullivan, 93, of Big Bend, WV passed away April 2, 2017 at Genesis HealthCare, Glenville Center. Eileen was born July 13, 1923 at Leroy, WV to the late Jennings Bryan and Lora Kelley Tolley. She graduated from Gilmore High School in 1941. In 1945 served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a medical technician during WWII. On September 7, 1945, married Earl T. Sullivan and together they raised three children. Eileen was an active and devoted member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a special gift of making homemade light bread. Survivors include her children: Thomas Sullivan and wife, Sandra, of Washington, WV; Patricia Mowrey and husband, Glen, of Graham, N.C. and James Sullivan of Smithville, WV. Grandchildren: Matthew Mowrey (Mandy); Jeremy Mowrey (fiancée Amanda); Lisa Roberts (Michael); Ann Lambert (Joseph); Susan Sullivan (fiancée Chris Gifford); and Michael Sullivan, six great grandsons, sisters Evelyn Pursley of Goshen, Ohio and Agnes Keirns of Akron, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Earl T. Sullivan, sisters, Eugenia Emerick, Louise Clark and Margaret Congrove, a brother, Harold Tolley and a daughter-in law, Colleen Sullivan. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Metheney and Rev Carol McCauley officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Memorial Gardens. Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is assisting the Sullivan family with final arrangements.
