Carl Philip Stickley Martinsburg, West Virginia Obituary

Carl Philip Stickley

Carl Philip Stickley, 73, of Middletown, VA, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Blue Ridge Hospice. He wrote: I decided to write this myself so I hope the first person does not bother anyone too much. I was born in Easton, MD, on May 17, 1947, to Floyd H. Stickley and Caroline Marie (Sibole) Stickley, both deceased. My youth was spent in Ferndale, MD and Berkeley Springs, WV. I was preceded in death by my wife of 39 years, Beth (Spaur) Stickley. I leave behind three children, Donna Spies and Matthew Stickley of Martinsburg, WV, and Sarah Stickley and husband Josh Miller of Port Allen, Louisiana. I also leave behind my grandson, Blayne Spies, also of Martinsburg. I also have two brothers, Richard Stickley and wife Marcia of Winchester, VA and Jeff Stickley and wife Connie of West Columbia, SC. I am a retired Msgt of 20 years from the 167th ANG, Martinsburg (Aerovac), as well as retired from Capital Cement, Martinsburg, and a retired teacher from the Berkeley County School System. I graduated from Shepherdstown High School in 1965, Shepherd College in 1989 with a BA in Education, and from WVU in 1990 with a MA in Special Education (Gifted Education). There will be a gathering at Brown Funeral Home in Inwood, WV on July 20th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please come as you are (I won’t remember any of you if you dress up).* Please, instead of flowers, send donations to the charity of your choice (especially if it helps kids in the local area). Thanks. Private interment will be held in Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney. *Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and following directives. "Cherish what is dearest while you have it near you, and wait not till it is far away. Blind and deaf that we are; oh, think, if thou yet love anybody living, wait not till death sweep down the paltry little dust clouds and dissonances of the moment, and all be made at last so mournfully clean and beautiful, when it is too late." Tell a Friend - Thomas Carlyle Reminiscences.
