Christine Tabler

Christine Louise Stanley Tabler, 94, of Martinsburg passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2017 at Countryside Assisted Living. Born June 17, 1923 in Berkeley County, WV she was the daughter of the late D. Worth and Mary S.L. Powell Stanley. She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Shepherdstown. She was a proud Lady of the Golden Horseshoe, earning that distinction in 1937 by displaying her knowledge of West Virginia. She graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1941 and attended Shepherd University. She enjoyed reading, teaching, cooking, and living on the farm. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Herbert D. Tabler; her brothers, Alfred W., Marion Boyd, E. Eugene, C. David, and Julian N.; and by her twin sister, Mary Frances. She is survived by her daughter, Lora Tabler Hammersla; son-in-law, Mark; grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary; and beloved nieces and nephews. Christine's family would like to thank everyone at Countryside for the wonderful care she received. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Erskine-Valentine officiating. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Grove, David Grove, Adam Kendig, Brian Kendig, JT Tabler, and John Paul Tabler. Interment will be private in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 2008, Shepherdstown, WV. 25443.
