June Gano

June Evans Gano, 85, born March 2, 1934 daughter of the late Hugh R. Evans, Sr. and Rose Leopold Evans passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020. She was known as Hoppi to her many friends. She was a lifelong resident of Berkeley County and graduated from Martinsburg High School. While in high school she participated in girls basketball and was head majorette for the Martinsburg High School band. She worked for the A & P Company from the time she graduated high school until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Loyalty-Fidelity Sunday School Class. She enjoyed many activities during her life such as shooting, archery and water skiing. Along with her husband she enjoyed many vacations and bus trips. There were many friends and neighbors whom she helped throughout her life. Along with her husband she made friends with almost everyone that she met or did business with. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hugh R. Evans, Jr., Malford Evans; and sisters, Hilda Hessen, Edna Ethel Davis and Dorothy Leavitt. She is survived by her husband Raymond “Mutt” Gano, nephews Scott Davis and wife Elaine, and Todd Davis and wife Meredith. She is also survived by step-son Mark Gano and wife Brenda and stepdaughter Margo Davis and husband Jerry. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Patricia Sebring officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.
