Elmer R. Kincaid, Jr., 83 of Kincaid, died Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.
Born March 20, 1934 at Page, WV he was the son of the late Elmer R. Sr. and Beulah Anderson Kincaid.
Mr. Kincaid was a retired Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army, having served two tours in Vietnam as well as time in Germany during his 22 year military career. Following retirement, he worked as a mechanic and also enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling and gardening where he was famous for growing very large watermelons that he freely gave away to family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Clay Kincaid. Two sons, Ronald Kincaid and wife Lisa of Lovettsville, VA and Dave Kincaid and wife Gabe of Stafford, VA. One daughter, Tammy and husband Doug McKinney of Princeton, WV. Six grandchildren, four sisters and one brother, along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday October 22, 2017 at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor Ken Souder officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Park in Oak Hill. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
