William “Roy” Franklin, 98, of Smyrna, DE went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2017. Born January 29, 1919 in Page, WV to the late John Lawson Franklin & Lilly Mae Beckett Franklin. Roy worked in the coal mines of West Virginia for 22 years. He moved to Delaware and worked for Chrysler for 5 years. He then worked in maintenance for 14 years at St. Andrews School in Middletown. At the age of 14, Roy became a Christian and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. One of his favorite Bible passages among many was Psalm 93. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years Mary Elizabeth Meadows, his sons Roy Lee and Paul Mark; 8 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his son James S. Franklin (Louise) of Smyrna; daughter Linda Gayle Wise of Raleigh, NC; 1 brother Rev. Benjamin Troy Franklin (Pat) of Aiken, SC; 6 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 1pm Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with interment to follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
