Evelina "Tata" Gutierrez Singleton, 99, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, in Houston, TX. She was born March 22, 1918 in Spelter, WV. Evelina was preceded in death by her husband, Creal Walter Singleton, whom she married on December 25, 1939 and her son, Stanley Creal Singleton, who passed away on April 10, 2007. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Mary and Amelia Cain, and Albert Gutierrez. She is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Stephen Singleton and his wife Pam of Spring, TX; Cindy Huch and husband Bill of Spring, TX; Anna Archuletta and husband Paul of New Braunfels, TX; and her six great granddaughters: Alexandra, Olivia, Kendall, Amanda, Rachel and Christina. Daughter-in-law, Susan Singleton of Spring, TX plus several beloved nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Evelina was given the Spanish nickname of Tata which many cherished friends and valley neighbors fondly called her because they were like family and took care of each other. She was known to be a hard worker who loved to cook, clean, and spend time together having fun. What a personality and laugh she had! Her unconditional love is greatly missed by family, friends, and animals. The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Saturday, July 15 from 11 until the time of the service at 1, with Pastor Erik Hustead presiding. Interment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
