Frederick R. “Fred” Edgell of Bingamon Road passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at UHC in Bridgeport. He was born January 23, 1935 to Roy W and Eula M. (Smith) Edgell.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne (Jett) Edgell, his children; Frederick R. Edgell II (Donna), Carol Lynn Edgell, Deborah A. Barron, Mary A. Riegel and a son-in-law Darris P. Riegel. In addition, his grandchildren; Nicholas P Shearer (Amber), Michael L Shearer (Billie), Joshua Barron, Zackary Barron, Rachel Cook (Jeremy), Savannah Edgell, Hunter Edgell, Michele Riegel and Brandon Riegel. Great-grandchildren, Mikaylie Shearer, Brittany Garcia, Kirsten Fahy, Devin Riegel and Kamdyn Waites. Step-grandchildren, Jenna Barron and Philip Barron; as well as his brother, Tom Edgell (Carol Marie) and a best friend, Harold Deavers and many other friends and family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, son-in-law Phil Barron and sister Betty Toothman.
He and wife were co-owners of E&E Angus and enjoyed attending the Rocking P Farm dinner and cattle auction, as well as the WV Beef Expo in Jackson’s Mill. He was a member of the American Angus Association.
As a member of UMWA Local 1501, he retired from Robinson Run Mine 95. Prior to becoming a coal miner, he was a salesman at James Chevrolet in Mannington.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and looked forward to the traditional first day of deer season breakfast with his son and grandsons. He leaves behind many memories to cherish.
The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 South Pike St. Shinnston, on Sunday from 2-8pm and Monday, August 20, from 9am until the time of the service at 2pm with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating.
