Sammy “Sam” Edward Goldsmith, 84, of Roanoke, WV passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. He was born in Copley, WV on July 30th, 1936 to the late Raymond Cecil Goldsmith and Bessie M. (Riffle) Goldsmith. He was married to his beloved wife Thelma Christina “Chris” (McCartney) Goldsmith on June 28th, 1976 who survives. Sam is also survived by 1 daughter: Darla Rae Lockard (Michael) of Walkersville, WV, 4 sons: Sammy Ray Goldsmith (Mindy) of Jackson’s Mill, WV, David Lee Goldsmith (Sandy) of Weston, WV, Rodney T. Goldsmith (Mary Lou) of Weston, WV and Larry J. Westfall (Tracy) of Ashtabula, OH, 18 grandchildren: Tiffany Basham, Danny Turner, Brandi Herrick, Randy Goldsmith, Samantha Smith, Robert Moats, Sarah Manuel, David Lee Goldsmith, Jr., Bradley Goldsmith, Aurdina Pumphrey, Nathan Goldsmith, Anthony Goldsmith, Shania Rowan, Jason Westfall, Caleb, Williams, Isaac McCray, Isabell Lockard, Levi Lockard, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. He is also survived by 1 brother Andy Goldsmith (Vicki) and 10 other siblings. Sam was preceded in death by 3 sons: Danny Edward Goldsmith, Timmy Matthew Goldsmith, and Terry Wayne Westfall. Sam was a Baptist by faith. He attended the Rock Cave Baptist Church. He was a trucker for Harper Trucking. He loved to play guitar and sing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and working on his car. Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N Main Avenue Weston, WV on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A private family funeral service will be held at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Martin Wine officiating. Interment will follow services at Green Hill Cemetery in Braxton County.
