Archie Lattea Obituary

Archie E. Lattea, Sr, 86, of Old Mill Road Weston passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in United Hospital Center of Bridgeport following an extended illness. He was born in Lewis County on July 27, 1930: son of the late Archie Lattea and Ocie (Starcher) Lattea. On May 20, 1949, he married Nellie (Hamrick) Lattea, who preceded him in death on January 24, 2013. Mr. Lattea is survived by four daughters: Nina Chapman of Weston, Ellen Titus and husband Paul of Alum Bridge and Vickie Lattea and Sharon Lattea both of Weston, four sons: Archie E. Lattea, Jr. of Weston, Gary Lattea and wife Pamela of Weston and Les Lattea of Weston and Dakotah Chapman and fiancé Amy Norris, whom he raised like a son. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Billy Titus, Missy Lattea, Mikala Blake and Mike Lattea and four great grandchildren: Brandon McCue, Bianca and Isiah Lattea and a special great grandson: Caden Chapman. Also surviving is one brother: Bob Lattea and wife Judy of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife Nellie, Archie was preceded in death by four brothers: Joe, Paul, John and Leon Lattea and two sisters: Mary Lunsford and Pauline Shackleford. Mr. Lattea retired as a glassworker from Colonial and Louie Glass Factories of Weston. He later was employed at the Lewis County Board of Education in Maintenance where he retired four years ago. He was a member of the Mt Zion Baptist Church on Freemans Creek in Lewis County. Archie’s hobbies included fishing and enjoying his horse. Earlier farming was his passion. He loved his garden and especially his tomatoes. He will be missed by family and friends. Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jeff Ramsey officiating.
