Betty Jane Whetstone, 83, of Nutterfort, WV passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in River Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born in Roanoke, WV on April 25, 1934: daughter of the late Nellie Puffenbarger and James Lloyd Riffle. On April 28, 1967, she married Robert Whetstone, who preceded her in death on October 3, 1983. Mrs. Whetstone is survived by two daughters: Kathy Stump and husband Darwin of Denver, CO and Leisha Swiger of Amsterdam and husband Neal of Lost Creek. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, Betty was preceded in death by one son: H.Robert Whetstone, one sister: Hulda Cosner and one brother Ronnie Riffle. Mrs. Whetstone was a homemaker. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and writing poetry. At Mrs. Whetstone’s request, there will be no public service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
