Jimmy Barnette

Jimmy Francis Barnette, 81, of Weston passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV following a sudden illness. He was born in Burnsville on May 5, 1936: son of the late Oscar Barnette and Corinda (McHenry) Barnette. On December 15, 1956, he married Patricia (Arnold) Barnette, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters: Tammy Shifflett and husband Arthur of Alexandria, VA, Terry Barnette of Alexandria, VA and Janie Goldston and husband Tom of Stafford, VA, one son: Jimmie Barnette and wife Brenda of Annandale, VA, six grandchildren: Jerry Barnette, Katie Mason, Kenny Shifflett, Chelsea Goldston, Jimmy Barnette and Emily Huffman and three great grandchildren: Madison Campbell, Joshua Mason and Aubrey Goldston. Mr. Barnette is also survived by two sisters: Betty Moss of Fredericksburg, Va. and Jean Barth of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by one grandson: Kevin Shifflett, one brother: Carl Barnette and two sisters: Joanna Carson and Bonda Kuhl. Mr. Barnette was a mail carrier and drove truck for Black Label Beer both in Virginia and was a warehouse manager for Virginia Linen in Alexandria, VA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston where he loved to attend church and Sunday school. Jimmy enjoyed working in his yard and was a caretaker for his wife, Patricia. Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ken Miller officiating.
