Scott L Sands

Scott L Sands, 57, lifelong resident of Janesville, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2017, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born July 20, 1960 in Janesville, the son of the late Whitey and Joyce (Hemming) Sands. He attended schools in Janesville, and was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1978. On July 27, 2002, he married the former Jean M. Behrendt at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Janesville. Scott began at an early age in the family business learning carpentry through his father. He went on to become a journeyman carpenter and home design drafter, but his passion for the craft went far beyond. He worked for the family business, Sands Construction, Marling Lumber Co., and Wolohan Lumber Co., as well as being self-employed. He was always selfless in helping all of his family and friends with home improvement projects or anything that was asked of him at a moment’s notice. His truly greatest pride was being a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage fishing or enjoying a root beer by the pier with his soulmate, Jean, and his four-legged son, Parker. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends and family, making each outing memorable with his humor and antics. His humor went far beyond the golf course though, always bringing a smile to everyone around him. He is survived and will be greatly missed by, his wife, Jean M. Sands; his 3 children, Nicholas (Kaylin Boscha) Sands, Jacki (Brian) Sullivan, both of Racine, WI, and Casey (Anna Peterson) Martin, of Owatonna, MN; his 2 beloved grandchildren, Levi Sullivan and London Sands, also both of Racine; his 4 sisters, Jody (Jim) Bartz, of Tomahawk, WI, Jennifer (Brian) McKittrick, of Oconomowoc, WI, Julie (Lee) Meyers, of Hendersonville, TN, and Kristin (Bill) Fischer, of Silver Lake, WI; his mother-in-law, Jean Behrendt, of Janesville; his brother-in-law, Craig (Tammy) Behrendt; his 2 sisters-in-law, Diana (Jim) Teeter, and Connie (Tom) Riggs; his beloved buddy and companion, Parker; and by nieces, nephews, and many friends. Besides his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Clifford Behrendt. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Rev. Michael Schulz officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, or from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the FUNERAL HOME.
