Anthony M. ”Tony” Tenuta, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie surrounded by his family. Born on April 26, 1921, in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late Mercurio and Sylvia (Muoio) Tenuta. He was a lifelong resident and was educated in local schools. In later years he and his wife spent their winters in Arizona. On August 28, 1942, he entered the United States Army during World War II. He served in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe until his honorable discharge on January 22, 1946. Tony received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/3 Bronze Stars, 2 overseas service bars, 1 service stripe, the Good Conduct Medal, and Bronze Star Medal Meritorious Unit. On April 25, 1944, he married Mae Falbo at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in Racine. He was a mechanic for SC Johnson in Racine for over 33 years, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement he continued working on the cars of his family and friends, well in to his 80’s. Tony was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Italian American Men’s Society and Roma Lodge of Racine. Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years, Mae; a daughter, Sharon (David) Manka of Kenosha; a brother, Joseph (Marge) Tenuta; four sisters, Gilda Conti, Jessie (Robert) Paulson, Rose Andrews and Louise (Alfredo) Greco; two grandchildren, Michael (Debbie) Manka and Michele (Larry) Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Izabella, Hailey and Ava Manka, and Gianna and Mayli Martin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam and George and Frank Tenuta; a sister, Minnie Schuppert; and four great-grandchildren, Elise Marie, Ella Blu, Maya Grace and Lawrence Martin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Leonardo Montemurro and his staff and to the entire staff of Hospice Alliance for all of the special care given to Tony. Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday, January 11th, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a 9:00 a.m. Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
