Cordelia Furlin

Cordelia “Della” Furlin, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at St. Joseph Home and Rehabilitation Center, with her family at her side. Born on March 23, 1925, in Piney Fork, OH, she was the daughter of the late Cirillo and Margaret (Maoli) Vinco. She was educated in Ohio before moving to Kenosha in the 1930’s to make her home. On October 5, 1946, she married Joseph Furlin at Calvary Baptist Church in Kenosha. He preceded her death on May 9, 2004. Della had been employed for over 20 years at Burger Chef in Kenosha. Della was a member of Calvary Baptist Church (which merged with The First Baptist Church), of which she was a very active member, The Kenosha Alpine Club, and also of the Moose Lodge. Della enjoyed playing cards with the Hospice Ladies and was an avid golfer, Bocce Ball player and Bowler. She was a repetitive Bocce Ball Champion at the Alpine Club winning her last championship age 88. In earlier years she and her husband enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Peggy) Furlin of Lake Mills, WI, and David (Patty) Furlin of Kenosha; two brothers; two sisters; and her two grandchildren, Michelle and Joseph Furlin. Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Mary. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31st, at First Baptist Church, 47th Avenue and Washington Road, at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
