Donald H. Larson, 77, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by his wife, kids and grandchildren. Born in Kenosha on April 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna (Christensen) Larson. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. Donald served his country in the Unites States Marines from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959. On April 30, 1960, he married Carol E. Kress at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. After being discharged from the Marines, Donald worked for a few years at American Motors Corporation. He then went on to serve on the Kenosha Police Department for 27 years, retiring as Detective in 1992. Donald was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing and classic cars. In the early 1960’s, Donald was a semi-pro baseball pitcher in Kenosha. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Kenosha; three children, William (Denise) Larson of Kenosha, Linda (Randy) Grundy of Johnsburg, IL, and Paul (Valerie) Larson of Kenosha; two sisters, Carole (Donald) Gerlach and Judy Hess, both of Kenosha; a daughter-in-law, Diana Larson of Kenosha; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Larson on February 22, 2013; and a sister, Beverly Patty. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
