Francis J. “Frank” Schaefer, 85, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, January 3rd, at his residence. Born in Carroll, IA, on October 13, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Dunck) Schaefer. Frank was educated in the schools of Iowa. He resided in Oak Lawn, IL, and Lemont, IL, before moving to Kenosha in 2012. On June 25, 1949, he married Lila Sisson in Chicago. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1986. Then on August 17, 1991, he married Mary Ann Cichowski in Oak Lawn, IL. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2010. Frank was employed as a bus driver with the Chicago Transit Authority for 34 years until he retired in 1986. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed astronomy, walking on the beach, reading Time magazine, doing puzzles and watching the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include his daughter, Lila (James S.) Baum of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Michelle (Simon) McIlroy, Jim F. (Dennis Smart) Baum and Renee Baum; and four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Beatrix, Abigail and Annabelle. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Gerald and Jack; and four sisters, Eulia, Rita, Lucille and Ruth. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12th, at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, IL.
