Gerald Chapman

Gerald J. Chapman, 73, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014, at his daughter’s home. He was born in Waukegan, IL, on March 14, 1940, the son of Leslie “Les” and Margarette “June” (Seaver) Chapman. He attended schools in Winthrop Harbor and Zion, IL. On May 20, 1977, he married Carmella Cristiano in Zion, IL. Gerald was employed at John’s Manville Corp for 35 years as a machine mechanic. He was a Volunteer Fire Fighter in Round Lake as well as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts. He was a huge Oakland Raider football fan through the years and enjoyed being on a bowling league, dry martini’s, teaching his grandchildren to play guitar, hunting and fishing, working on cars for himself and his friends. Gerald had a huge heart and would help anyone who was in need. Surviving Gerald is his wife of 36 years, Carmella; his children, Kathy McRides, Ana Benedict, Jamie Chapman, Wally Freitag, Debbie Schuster and Jeremy Chapman; his mother; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie; an uncle, Earl; and his grandson, Billy. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
