John Eugene Peters, 63, of Kenosha, passed away on September 9, 2012, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born on June 5, 1949, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Ellis Duane Peters and Clara Mae (Beaumier) Minkey. He was also the step-son of Melvin Lawrence Minkey. He was a lifelong resident and attended local schools and Milwaukee Area Technical College. He served in the United State Marines from March 21, 1969, until he was honorably discharged on October 8, 1970. In August of 1971, John married Linda Jean Clausen; they later divorced. On August 31, 2000 he married Judy Heroux, his soul mate. John retired from OMC. He was currently employed at Harley Davidson Corporation. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and the H.O.G. Racine Chapter. He was an avid Packer fan, loved to play guitar and pool, and liked to sketch and paint. John was a devoted husband and is survived by his wife, Judy (Heroux) Peters; daughter, Jeana Marie Peters; granddaughter, Breanna Lee Stephens; step-son, David (Becky) Heroux; step-grandson, Connor Heroux; sister, Linda Marie (Dennis) Bauer; niece, Melissa Margaret (Aaron Alexander) Ray; grand-nephew, Logan Alexander Ray; grand-niece, Makayla Natalie Ray; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. John is further survived by his faithful companions, Teddy, Abby and Bitsy. John was preceded in death by his parents and Kodi, his four legged friend for many years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14th, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors.
