Marjorie C. Thompson

Marjorie C. Thompson, 91, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Brookdale Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kenosha on November 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Gladys (Kline) Gentes. She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated in local schools. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Ray Thompson; he preceded her in death in 1988. She had been employed by Kenosha Unified Schools for 16 years. She had been a member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Catholic Church and later she joined St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society, the Danish Sisterhood Lodge #20, Kenosha Senior Citizens, Senior Action Council, Women’s Aglow and was past president of the Kenosha Education Aides Association. Marjorie loved traveling, sewing, knitting and playing cards. Surviving are her three children, Wesley Thompson of Kenosha, Audrey Tower of LaFayette, CO, and Barbara (Joel) Ewings of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Cherie (Michael) Knoebel, Clayton Tower, Adam Ewings, Todd (Kerry) Ewings and Gina (Garrett) Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Alana, Matthew, Ashlyn, Tanner, Trenton and Paige; and two sisters, Meredith Prostko of Kenosha and Donna (George) Herrmann of Waterford, WI. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Kellman in 2012; and her son-in-law, Steven Tower in 2013. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of both Hospice Alliance and Brookdale Assisted Living for all special care given to their mother. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 12:00 noon. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
