Mrs. Marlene Odegaard-Thomas, 64, of Etowah, NC, died Saturday, February 18, 2012.
She was born on January 21, 1948, in Kenosha, WI, to the late Daniel and Alice Odegaard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Joseph Odegaard.
She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Kenosha in 1966 and married her husband John Thomas on February 27, 1971.
After 24 years working for S. C. Johnson, she retired in 2002 when she and her husband moved to Etowah. A very talented artist, she painted with acrylics, oil and used pen and ink. She was a fantastic baker, an avid gardener, decorator and a Packer and Badger fan. Being family oriented and loving them above all, she was an exceptional mother, wife and friend.
She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Lori Thomas-Williams and her husband, Enrico; son, David Thomas and his wife, Beverley Charmer; her brothers, Daniel Odegaard and wife, Roberta, Floyd Odegaard and wife, Sandy, Ronald Odegaard and wife, Zoraida, and Don Odegaard and wife, Carol; sister, Marianne Mikkonen and her husband, John; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday February 28, 2012, at the Proko Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to the Salvation Army.
