Mary Aschenbrenner Obituary

Mary E. Aschenbrenner, 94, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2012, at Hospitality Manor. Born on August 7, 1917, in Sheboygan Falls, WI, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Riebel) Garton. She attended the schools of Sheboygan Falls and graduated from Sheboygan Falls Normal School and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oshkosh State College. For over 35 years she taught in several city and county schools, starting in a one-room school in Sheboygan County. On November 27, 1954, she married Aloys "Lefty" Aschenbrenner. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1996. She was a longtime member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Surviving are her two children: Mary (James) Hawkins of Kenosha; Donald (DaNiel) Aschenbrenner of Perry, GA; her grandchildren: Ann, Paul, Jeanne and John Aschenbrenner; Meredith (Joel) Wood, James (Kathy) Hawkins, Robert (Lori) Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Erin Wood, Delaney, Emily, Nicholas and Aidan Hawkins; her nieces and nephews: Lynn Braun, James (Julie), Peter (Gail) and Gena Marie Garton; and great-nephews: Daniel, Tanner and Spencer Garton. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Garton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospitality Manor Staff, Hospice Alliance and Dr. Sta Romana for all of their care. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 8th, at 12:00 noon at St Dominic’s Catholic Church, 2133 N. 22nd Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be held on Thursday at St. Dominic’s from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, would be appreciated by the family.
