Pietro “Peter” Morrone, 82, of Kenosha, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Kenosha Medical Center.
Born on November 15, 1927, in Marano Marchesato, Province of Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Vincenzina (Ruffolo) Morrone. He grew up and was educated in Italy.
Pietro and his brother, Luigi, were trained as tailors by their father, Vincenzo, in their tailor shop in Italy. In 1950, he moved to Pavia, Italy, to continue his work as a tailor.
He came to the US on September 27, 1954. On September 1, 1956, he married Annunziata Spizzirri at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Marano Marchesato, Italy. Annunziata joined her husband in the US in 1958. She died on June 8, 2002.
He was employed at Simmons and worked as a tailor with Joe Puntillo and later with Julius Urban.
Pietro, along with his brother Luigi (Gino), owned and operated Morrone Brothers Tailor Shop, on Roosevelt Road, from 1962-1995.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his twin daughters, Patrizia (Renato) Notarianni and Francesca (Charles) Romano, both of Kenosha; a sister, Rosina Serpe of Kenosha; a brother, Faustino (Nellina) Morrone of Italy; a brother-in-law, Beniamino (Delia) Spizzirri of Chicago; three dear granddaughters, Gina Romano, Teresa Romano, and Marta Notarianni; nieces and nephews, Vince (Susan) Morrone, Frank (Kathy) Morrone, Maurice (Jenny) Morrone, Rose (Mike) Carlsen, Chancy (Steve) Spieker, George (Carole) Serpe, Linda (Joe) Miller, Gina (Mike) Cockrell, Anna (Jack) Zito, and Nancy (Art) Lasselle; and many special great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Luigi (Gino); sister-in-law, Emma Morrone; and brother-in-law Frank (Geno) Serpe.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 20th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 9:30 a.m.
