Ray Camosy, 97, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Addison surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 14, 1921 in Kenosha, WI. He was the son of the late Dominic and Regina Camosy who emigrated to the U.S. from Le Marche, Italy in 1904. He graduated from Kenosha High School in 1939 and later earned a degree from the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. During World War II, Ray served for 3 and a half years with the U.S. Army Air Force, being assigned to Kadena air base in Okinawa, where he supervised the maintenance of B-29s. He was honorably discharged in 1946, achieving the rank of Captain. On June 7, 1947 he married Louise Ferraro at the Holy Rosary Church in Kenosha. Together they raised five children in Kenosha. In October 1947, Ray joined Camosy Construction Company which his father founded in 1910. Ray served as President, CEO and Chairman of the company overseeing its growth for over 40 years. Devoted to ongoing development within our community, he went on to serve in various leadership roles with many local organizations, including: Chairman of the Board at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Chairman of the Kenosha Youth Foundation, President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, Board member of the First National Bank of Kenosha and member of the Toastmasters Club of Kenosha. Ray was also a member of Mount Carmel Church in Kenosha. In addition to his beloved wife of 71 years, Louise, Ray is survived by: 5 children, Arthur Camosy (Diane Wilkinson), Raymond Camosy (Mary Ann), Laurie Pearsall (Morgan Pearsall), Jeannie Camosy (David Himebrook), John Camosy (Debbie), 8 grandchildren, Dr. Charles Camosy (Paulynn), Robert Camosy, Kathleen Camosy, Diana Camosy (Maurice Robinson) Courtney Himebrook, Jennifer Himebrook, Trisha Camosy, Kevin Camosy and 4 great-grandchildren, Jenie, Jonathon, Gina and Thaddeus Camosy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur, Raoul, Joseph, and his sister Gloria. The family would like to thank The Addison of Pleasant Prairie and Heartland Hospice Care for their assistance over the past months, and especially Ray’s dear nephew, Art Maurer and his wife Rita Chiappetta, for their devoted support and loving friendship over many years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 18th, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery immediately following.
