Winifred Ellingham

Winifred L. Ellingham, 95, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Brookside Care Center. Born on October 28, 1918, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Olsen) Johnson. She was educated in Kenosha schools and graduated from Kenosha High School. On March 6, 1943, she married LeRoy Ellingham at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2004. In her youth she was active in the 4-H and won prizes in sewing. She worked at Coopers and Brittles Recreation. Winifred was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church and in the past had belonged to the Alter Guild and the former Ruth Circle. She was a member of the Kenosha Senior Citizens and the Danish Sisterhood #20, and had belonged to the Racine Theater Guild. Winifred loved to go to the Fireside and Drury Lane shows. The Green Bay Packers were her favorite football team when Brett Favre played. Winifred would like to thank her cousin Lorraine Harris and dear friends and caregivers Kevin King and Sharon Anderson for all of their help. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17th, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
