Mr. Jesse Ray Curtis was born June 25, 1953, to the late Jeff and Carrie Curtis of Luverne, Alabama. He departed his life on September 9, 2016 at home in Madison, WI. Jesse joined Kings Chapel AME Zion Church in Luverne, Alabama at an early age. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1971. He attended Lurleen Wallace Junior College before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before graduating from the UW Madison, he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He worked at the DMV here in Madison for 35 years before retiring early in 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles, and three sisters: Mary Curtis Folmar, Annie Lois Rutledge, and Bobbie Curtis.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memories one daughter: Danada Wade of Madison, WI, three sons: Damone Wade, Anthony Burnett, and Marcus Curtis, all of Madison, WI; two sisters: Diane Curtis Russell of Chicago, IL., and Brenda Curtis of Madison, WI; three nieces: Shelia Johnson and Arnese Rutledge of Luverne, AL, and Lakiesha Curtis of Madison, WI: 2 nephews: Freddie Day of Stoughton, WI, and Cedric Rutledge of Clearwater, Fl; many grand nieces and nephews in Luverne, AL and Madison, WI; countless cousins in Cleveland OH, Chicago IL, and Atlanta GA; special sons Terrance McNeal and Timothy Harbert of Madison, WI; long time friends John Stroud of Luverne, AL, Johnnie Smith and Charles Brown of Madison, WI, and his Fraternity brothers and other friends.
