Edna Mentink, 103, of Oostburg died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls where she had resided for the past 30 years. Edna was born on August 22, 1913, in the Town of Wilson, the daughter of Gerrit and Anne (Greupink) Roerdink. Edna attended Harmony School. On August 22, 1933, she married Walter Mentink at First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Walter preceded her in death following 65 years of marriage. She worked at Badger Raincoat as a seamstress in Oostburg. Edna was also a dedicated homemaker for her family and a loving mother, grandmother. Edna was a member of First Reformed Church where she was active in the Mission Circle. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, baking, and gardening. Edna was a member of the Beaver Creek Bridle and Saddle Club and Homemakers Club. Edna is survived by her two daughters, Delores (Russell) Roethel of Oostburg and Donna Lubbers of Leesburg, FL; her six grandchildren, Carl (Linda) Roethel, Robert (Mary) Roethel, James (Mary Lou) Roethel, Randall (Margaret) Roethel, Sherry (Rick) Rammer, and Roger (Judy) Lubbers; 14 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Edna is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends Edna was preceded in death by her husband, one son-in-law; Wayne Lubbers, one great-grandson; Joshua Roethel, 1 sister; Mildred Roerdink, 2 brothers; Harold (Marian) Roerdink, and Herman (Mercedes) Roerdink. A funeral service to celebrate Edna’s life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at 6pm on Monday, December 12, 2016, with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. A private family burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm.
