Donald Goodman Obituary

Donald “Don” Peter Goodman, age 91 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin died on March 14, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1925, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Peter and Magdalene (Wolf) Goodman. He was discharged as a corporal from the U.S. Marine Corps in March, 1946 after having served with the 5TH Amphibious Artillery, 5TH 155 Howitzer and 11TH Gun Battalion. On August 2, 1949, Don was united in marriage to Kathleen “Katie” I. Piquette. This marriage was blessed with eight children. Katie sadly preceded him in death in January, 2002. Don was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg and the Reedsburg VFW Post 1916. He owned and operated the Reedsburg Egg Company (Reedsburg Produce). Don was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a role model who knew the value of hard work, had a strong devotion to his faith and had the ability to talk to anyone. He enjoyed sports, biking, the Cubs, the Packers, Glenn Miller, traveling and anything that had to do with his children and grandchildren. Don will be lovingly remembered by his children Janet (Daniel) Luedke, Steven (Robin) Goodman, Mary (Mike Heald) Goodman, Michael (Darla) Goodman, Betsy (Steven) Schmidt, John (Barb) Goodman, Peter (Judy) Goodman, and Patrick (Tina) Goodman; grandchildren Tom, Eric, Kari, Brian, Kellsie, Matthew, Kyla, Brea, Dakota, Joseph, Elisa, Clare, and Emma; step-grandchildren Jacob, Stacey, Anne and Megan and numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister Gwen (Dustin) Wilson, brother James Goodman and sister-in-law Mary (Robert) Miller. Don will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Magdalene, brother Marshall, sister Dolores Bosch and her husband Russell Bosch, and nieces Susie Bosch and Claire Miller Lonza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Donald Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:30 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. David Carrano, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. A time of visitation will also be on Saturday, at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will follow services with military rites at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the staff and other residents of Our House as well as Agrace Hospice. A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund.
