Shirley Kast

Shirley Evelyn Kast, 75, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 20, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family. Shirley was born June 7, 1941, in Reedsburg, WI to the late Gustave and Evelyn (Pfaff) Monskey. On November 28, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage to Joseph Kast. This marriage was blessed with three children. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. Shirley first worked in the Hillpoint Post Office. Together with her husband Joseph, they owned and operated the Village Inn in Hillpoint for eleven years. For twenty years, Shirley worked for Reedsburg area insurance companies. She was a former bowler. She enjoyed playing golf and watching it on television and was a member of the Reedsburg Country Club. Shirley enjoyed cross-word puzzles, gardening and birdwatching. She was also a Packer and Badger fan, and was known to be an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Allen Kast and Brother, Larry Monskey. Shirley is survived by her husband, Joe of Reedsburg; Daughter, Debbie Richert of Reedsburg; Her son Mark (Jan) Kast of Hillpoint; Special family friend, Kenny Muchow of Hillpoint; Grandchildren: Ryan (Katie) Richert, and children, Rayha, Rachel and Ross; Michelle (Rob) Gardner, and children, Sara, Tanner and Tierney; Mike Wagner, and son, Jake; Mark Jr. (Mary) Kast, and children, Lily and Gavin; Matt Kast, and children, Jade and Carter; Her sister, Sherry (Don) Mutterer of Hillpoint; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bette Monskey of Deerfield, JeanAnn Repsumer of Richland Center, Mary Jane Howard of Reedsburg, Jim (Carol) Kast, Jerry (Laura) Kast, John (Jeannie) Kast, all of Hillpoint; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Shirley Kast will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Reverend Paul Crolius officiating. Burial will follow in St. John “Tuckertown” Cemetery, Hillpoint. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg and on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
