Wilma "Jane" Fisher, age 87, of Reedsburg, died Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Casa de Oakes – Memory Care surrounded by her family. Jane was born to Clinton and Mabel (Holtslander) Bennett on November 25, 1929, in Amherst, Wisconsin. Jane completed Teachers College in 1950 and began teaching in many of the rural one room schools that were in the Reedsburg area before accepting a full time teaching position at Kelly School. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1950 to Kenneth Fisher. She and Ken made their home on the Fisher family farm where their marriage was blessed with four children. Jane was a great gardener who canned much of the family food. Jane returned to substitute teaching after her children were grown in the Reedsburg, Mauston, Wonewoc and Weston School Districts. Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Kenneth Shannon Fisher; siblings Shirley Madden, Harold "Bud" Bennett, Clyde Bennett, Darrold Bennett, Myrtle Oakes, and Glen Bennett and baby sister Bertha Mae. She is survived by her children; Rebecca (David) Knull of Reedsburg, Linda (Richard) Carpenter of Oxford, NE, Robert (Tina) Fisher of Imperial, NE. Her grandchildren Erik (Tammy) Knull of Reedsburg, Benjamin (Ann) Dorn of La Valle, Andrew (Amy) Carpenter of Holdrege NE, Travis (Anna) Carpenter of Omaha NE, Wendy (Nate) Parr of Omaha NE, Amanda (Chad) Armstrong of Reedsburg, Shannon Knull of Reedsburg, Tyler Fisher of Thornton CO, Jacey Fisher of Thornton CO, and Holly Cameron of McCook NE. She is further survived by her great grandchildren whom she loved very much; Allison, Reyclyn, Blake, Aiden, Ava, Beckham, Savannah, Kenni, Willow, Londyn, Harrison, Alice and Riley; Sister, Elnora Kloppman of Westchester, IL; step-sister, Elaine Kosch of Reedsburg; sisters-in-law, Shirley Bennett of Portage, Pat Bennett of Wisconsin Rapids, and Wanda Fisher of Meridian, Idaho; along with many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank and express their gratitude to the staff of Casa de Oakes – Memory Care for the kindness and care provided to Jane during her last years. A memorial service honoring the life of Jane Fisher will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Advent Christian Church, LaValle, with Reverend Richard Johnson officiating. A celebration of life gathering at the LaValle American Legion Hall will follow the service. Private family burial will take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
