Harold "Chris" Christensen

Harold B. “Chris” Christensen, 78, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 6, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A painter, pilot, fireman, angler, machinist, pianist, and family expert on economic growth and immigration, Chris will be missed for his gentle humor, attention to all grandkids’ activities, and appreciation for homemade pie. Chris was born March 11, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Bertha (Kleinfeldt) and Ronald Christensen. He worked at the Boulder (Colorado) Fire Department from 1961-2000, and worked as corporate pilot and flight instructor, receiving the FAA’s most prestigious award in 2015 – the Wright Bros Master Pilot Award. He married Karen Collins on April 19, 1968 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2018. Chris is survived by Karen and their daughters, Laura (Mike) Sutton and Beth (Matt) Hoobler, both of Cheyenne; his son Eric (Maria) Christensen, of Ridgefield, Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Cameron, Caleb and Ava Sutton; Jenna and Shelby Hoobler; and Diamon and Owen Christensen; brother, Ronald (Marjorie) Christensen of Carlisle, Iowa; sister Virginia (Richard) Haldeman of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, and infant son Gary. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A memory service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy in Chris’ memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
