Obituary for Aletta Smith

Waterbury, CT. Mrs. Aletta (Joyce) Smith, age 87, formerly of East Mitchell Ave Cheshire, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Summit Health Care in Plantsville. She was the widow of John F. Joyce. Alettaw was born on September 6, 1921 in Waterbury, the daughter of the lateWinfred and Nora (Lyons) Smith. She was educated in local schools and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading and knitting. Aletta’s family wishes to extend a special thank you and acknowledge all the nurses and aides at the Summit Healthcare Center for the wonderful care that they provided their mother over the many years of her illness. Aletta is survived by two sons, Danny Joyce and his wife Rosemary of Waterbury and Tim Joyce and his wife Lisa of Oregon as well as two daughters, Mrs. Anne Fernandes and her husband Joe of Waterbury and Susan Joyce of Fairfield CT. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her son, Bart Joyce is deceased. Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The Casey-O’Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
