On February 28, 2015, Delfina Maria Almeida of Cortes do Meio, Portugal passed away peacefully in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 88 years. On September 29, 1926, Delfina was born in Cortes do Meio to Joaquim and Maria Marques. She grew up in this tight knit community with Manuel, who would later become her husband. They were married in their hometown and blessed with three children. Delfina and Manuel decided to move their young family to Canada in September of 1964. She made a beautiful home, for her family, by keeping a lavish garden and an immaculate house. Delfina took pride in everything she did for her family. Delfina is survived by her three children, Eugenia (Urbano), Tony (Anna Bela) and Silvino; her grandchildren, Kevin, Zinzela, Anthony and Amy; and her sister, Natalia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Manuel; her parents, Joaquim and Maria; and her two older brothers, Antonio and Jaime. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre where Delfina spent the last few months of her life. A Celebration of Delfina’s Life will be held at Thursday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue.
