Lorna Hengen
HENGEN Lorna Annie Hengen (Morgan), aged 72, died peacefully on July 6, 2017 at the Foothills Medical Centre. Lorna was born March 20, 1945, in Olds the youngest of two daughters of William (Bill) and Doris Morgan. Lorna graduated from Olds College with certificates in accounting and secretarial duties. On August 14, 1965 Lorna married the love of her life Leonard Hengen and they settled in the Eagle Valley and Sundre area. They were part owners and operators of Sundre Machine and Iron for twenty years and raised three children. Lorna loved the outdoors spending time gardening, hiking, camping and driving west of Sundre, hobbies that she continued throughout the course of her life. She was an avid curler for many years, winning several trophies. Lorna also was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple with 50 years of service to the community. Family and friends were Lorna’s passion and she loved visiting, feeding and spending time with them. Lorna is survived by her husband Leonard of fifty two years; three children, Lenora (Brent); Larry (Oralee), Loretta (Tim); grandchildren Sarah (Riley), Mitchel, Ben, Ellin and Emily; sister, Lyla (Henry) and numerous other relatives and close friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Lorna; specifically the Paramedics, Sundre Hospital, STARS and the amazing ICU staff at the Foothills Medical Centre for their skill, compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Canadian Royal Purple Society, Sundre Lodge or S.T.A.R.S Air Ambulance.
